Perth Wedding: Jodie & Chris

There was instant chemistry for Jodie and Chris as their eyes locked romantically over the crowd at Zanzibar.  Chris was drawn in by Jodie’s mad moves on the dance floor, but it wasn’t until 11 years and 2 gorgeous children later that he finally proposed.  What took him so long?  His best man had some hilarious theories which he shared in his speech, but maybe Chris secretly knew that on this special day in October 2010 all the planets would align for their 2 boys to be perfectly dashing in their suits,  Jodie would look absolutely radiant, and all their friends and family would join them for the most beautiful of days.

The weather didn’t want to cooperate which meant the ceremony was moved 3 times: sun is out – garden!, No it’s raining – verandah, Sun is out again – garden!, Nope.  Verandah it is! But once Jodie started walking down the aisle, I’m pretty sure Chris could have been in the middle of a cyclone and his eyes wouldn’t have moved off her.  As the great poet anonymous wrote:    “Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain”

At the end of the speeches there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  The one thing Jodie & Chris never had together was a song, so Chris picked one for them and surprised Jodie by singing it with accompaniment from 2 of his friends.  I’m glad I had a camera in front of my face as I may have retreated to the back of the room to “get another memory card ready” (find a tissue).  To try to recreate the atmosphere of the evening, here are the lyrics of the song that Chris so perfectly chose:

Saving Grace – Pete Murray

I got you
You know I heard you say
You blossomed into a beautiful day
Your sunlight keeps shining in my face
I would see it even in deep out of space

And all in time
I know I will see you again and again
And every night I’m going to hold you and hold you and then
Before the light I will rescue and then we’ll begin
To start it all over again

I love it
And how you clear my way
Guide me into a brand new day
In your eyes you know I’ve found my place
You see you – you are my saving grace

And all in time
I going to see you again and again
And every night I’m going to hold you and hold you and then
Before the light I will rescue and then we’ll begin
to start it all over again

Don’t ever want to miss you
Don’t ever want to forget you
The way you are… today

And all in time
I’m going see you again and again
And every night I’m going to hold you and hold you and then
Before the light I will rescue and then we’ll begin
to start it all over again

I love this photo – this is their reaction upon being pronounced husband and wife

All the very best for an amazing life together, but judging from what I saw, you guys are already there 🙂
