It was recently pointed out to me that I take a lot of photos of dogs. I know I love my dogs, and have mentioned before that they are often unwilling victims subjects when I feel the urge to try something new with my camera. So I’ve gone back through my photoshoots, and if there is a dog at the photoshoot, it ends up on my camera. Is this strange? In my opinion, dogs are part of the family, so if I’m there to photograph the family, I’m photographing the dog. I think I will dedicate a future post to all the dogs captured on shoots!
My sister was married recently, so I had to think of something for her wedding present. Having mentioned (not so subtlety) a few times that she would like some photos of her “furbabies” I thought I would surprise her with some photos of her 3 cats and 1 dog. (Side note: I really don’t like the word “furbaby”. It creeps me out. Maybe it reminds me of furbies. Let’s all agree this will be the last time that word appears on this blog.)
Not being a cat person, I enlisted the help of my mum and we ‘broke in’ (don’t worry, we had keys) to my sister and her fiance’s (now husband) house to take photos of the animals while they were out. Here are the results of the photo shoot!
Not unlike humans, I found that if an animal is not keen to be at the photoshoot it requires all kinds of patience and shiny things to distract them to get the photos. A second pair of hands to hold them still is also a plus!
Judging by the reaction below, I think the canvases were a hit 🙂
Before you ask, yes the cats eyes are that blue (only slightly enhanced) and yes her dog does look like she wears eyeliner 🙂
Off to find myself some hot chocolate. Brrrrr it’s cold today! xx
