I attended a gorgeous wedding in Queenstown earlier this year, and my arrival city on the way was Christchurch.
Although I’d seen plenty of images on the news and online about the earthquake devastation, I wasn’t quite prepared to see an entire city missing.
There wasn’t much to do except walk around the perimeter of the city, which I did camera in hand.
In amongst the rubble signs of hope popped up throughout the walk – gorgeous wall art, a castle made of ice and plastic, an amazing community ‘library’ (a fridge!), kids skateboarding in ruins.
It’s very hard to imagine how Christchurch will come back from the earthquake, but if you want to help make a difference go to christchurchappealtrust.org.nz or donate through the red cross.
